There are 2 recipes that I’ve tried today. They are Guacamole and Crab Linguini. The crab linguini recipe is by one of my favorite cook, Nigella Lawson.
For guacamole, I only used 1/2 recipe as I only got 1 avocado. I added a red chili which greatly enhance the taste. But I seemed to use too much onions, although I only use 1/4 part of the onion. The smell and taste of the onion is too strong. I think I won’t use onion at all next time and substitute with a shallot instead. I ate it with tortilla chips I bought from Kem Chick supermarket at Pacific Place, which tasted great. Too bad I can’t find any other place which sells frozen tortilla at reasonable place. The avocado I choose should be riper. I ended up using a blender to mash the flesh. I used a local lemon instead of lime.
All I can say is Indonesian local lemon sucks. It is not fragrant enough. The same happened when I used it on the crab linguini.
I used frozen crab meat I bought at Farmer’s Market supermarket near my home. It was not fresh. I ended up have to fried it to crisp to be able to use it without it smelt too fishy and strong. Never ever buy crab meat again unless it is canned!
I used shrimps instead and they are great with the sauce! The recipe tasted simple and very light with shrimps. I substitute blanched local spinach for watercress and it tasted great. I also used 4 chilies instead of 1, but then I’m a spicy food maniac!
