Restaurant Review: Imperal Kitchen Lippo Karawaci, Tangerang, Indonesia

As I’m sleepy to do anything, but it seems a waste and inappropriate to fall asleep now, I’m going to start my restaurant and food stall reviews for food around my local area, Tangerang, Indonesia.

First of all is Imperial Kitchen Café at Lippo Karawaci Supermal, upper ground. It is located between Secret Recipe and Wendys. I believe it used to be bakery, but now it becomes a Chinese food restaurant. I cannot find any pork menu there, so I think the food does not contain any pork. I also saw some Moslem women ate there, so I guess the food there is halal.

I ate there about 3 weeks ago with mom at Sunday afternoon. There was a November promotion for Fried Squid with Salt and Pepper which usual price was Rp 22900,- or so, down to Rp 14900,-, and Chicken Feet Dim Sum, I think it was from around Rp 12900,- and the special price was Rp 8900,-.

Aside from those menus, I also ordered two plain rice for Rp 6500,- and a serving of Hot and Sour Sichuan Soup for around Rp 14900,- or so.

The beverage’ price was too high for Lippo Karawaci standard, IMHO. I ordered one small 300ml bottled Aqua for around Rp8000,-. The juice was around Rp18000 or so with narrow tall glass.

It took some time before our food was delivered, perhaps because it was kind of busy. The rice was nice. The chicken feet was good. The Fried Squid was not so good. First of all, it was only 4 pieces and the biggest part was the batter, not the squid. The seasoning is OK, but nothing new. Most Chinese restaurants use this kind of seasonings. The oil was not too fresh. The Hot and Sour Soup was quite good, but it had a bit too much vinegar.

We were going to order more food, but to his credit, the waiter explained that it’d take a while for the food to be ready so we cancelled. With all of mentioned orders, we spent around Rp 72000,- including tax and service.

I think if the restaurant wants to continue to price their food this high at Tangerang, they will have to provide higher quality and quantity.

Cleanliness: 4.5/5
Taste: 3.5/5
Price: 3/5
Overall: 3.5/5
